Dear Yuletide author,

Hi! First of all, thank you for signing up to write one of my beloved fandoms! What follows is a good bit of rambling about my general likes and dislikes and my feelings on each fandom and a few prompt ideas. If it helps you to get to know me, great! If it makes you want to run screaming in the other direction, please don’t! I promise I will appreciate whatever you write for me. :)

General Likes:
• Hurt/Comfort, emphasis on the comfort! Hugs, protectiveness, affection.
• Character-driven stories
• Familial and sibling relationships (actual blood families or friends/families of choice), strong male friendships
• Happy endings
• Plotty stuff is great and I can really get into it, but I also enjoy one-shots that act as tag scenes for episodes/chapters or vignettes that show little slices of life.

Dislikes:
• Incest, slash, porn (I would prefer no sexual content at all)
• Gore, excessive violence
• Mpreg, gender-bending
• Excessive swearing/foul language
• Main character death (especially if it’s canon…)

Some favorite tropes (which I include because I find they can help trigger plot ideas; please don't feel constrained by these):
• Scar reveals; characters learning about another's past trauma
• Comfort after nightmares; platonic bed-sharing
• Huddling for warmth; sharing body heat
• Rescue scenarios, one character protecting another
• Trapped together; characters working out issues and depending on each other in a situation they can't just walk away from
• Adopting a pet (because people's treatment of animals says a lot about them, and adding one to the mix affects people's interactions with each other...and because I love animals)

My requests:

1. Temeraire - Naomi Novik: William Laurence & Temeraire
I love the dragons in these books, and I love how Novik writes their relationships with their humans. Anything focused on Laurence and Temeraire's interactions will make me happy. Maybe something triggers the protectiveness that runs both ways...injury or illness or just some misunderstanding. Or what if there is no war, or the setting is more modern; what adventures are they having? Please feel free to include the other dragons or human characters. Gen, friendship fic preferred.

So, these books are my current favorite thing. The world is so complex and the characterization just amazing. I love the writing and the concept and the plots, and I really love the dragons. Temeraire's character is brilliant. I only discovered them earlier this year; I just finished Crucible of Gold.

I have too many favorite parts throughout the series to quote, but my absolute favorites are still in the first book, with Laurence going from not wanting this creature but doing his duty, to loving him with a sincere affection. That bond is just spectacular.

I enjoy the human interactions as well; I'm a fan of Granby and Tharkay and Emily Roland and Demane and the more minor players of the crew and I love how Temeraire is possessive of them all. I'd enjoy explorations of Laurence's relationships with them as well, or with his family. I also like all of the other dragons with their varying personalities. I have a particular fondness for little Volly.

2. Knight & Rogue - Hilari Bell: Michael Sevenson & Nonopherian Fisk
These books are so much fun. I like these two characters on their own, but their friendship and interactions with each other are what I really like about these stories. I'd love an adventure tale or a hurt/comfort Michael-in-peril, Fisk-to-the-rescue story (or vice versa!) or even just a description of a typical night for them on the road. Gen, friendship fic preferred.

I love this friendship. And I love that Bell writes it from both points-of-view, letting us see into their characters and their insights (and sometimes misunderstanding) of each other. Two young men, both outcasts in their own ways, who quickly owe each other their lives and become invested in each other despite themselves.

Michael is such a genuinely good man, and I love that he believes Fisk is one too, even though Fisk believes otherwise. Michael does need a keeper, and Fisk is good at it and willingly does it because he cares, no matter how much he protests. They have a genuine affection and protectiveness for each other.

I really do love watching them rescue each other and take care of each other. Watching them banter is fun, as well.

3. Magnum P.I. (TV 2018): Thomas Magnum & Gordon Katsumoto
I really enjoy the friendship dynamics at play here, and the trust issues. I'd love a story with these two working together on a case or depending on each other in a survival situation, or just hanging out on the beach (if Thomas could convince Katsumoto to relax and do such a thing!). Gen, friendship fic preferred.

These two seem so different on the surface, but have more in common than they'd probably like to admit (certainly on Katsumoto's part!). The sometimes antagonistic interactions make the times when they work so well together that much better. I really liked that in season 1 Katsumoto was starting to truly view Magnum as a friend before the whole Hannah thing and the lies. When that trust was broken it became clear that he has difficulty giving trust. Thomas's persistent attempts to win his friendship back were precious, as was the eventual revelation that he just wanted an honest apology.

I look forward to seeing how they play off each other in the future. This is a fandom where I'd love to see them trapped together working through issues, or see Katsumoto breaking the rules to help Magnum. Or I kind of like the idea of Thomas meeting Gordon's son, maybe helping with some issue related to him. I'm fond of most of the other characters here as well (especially Rick and TC), so feel free to include them.

4. 9-1-1: Evan "Buck" Buckley, Eddie Diaz, Bobby Nash
I love the team-as-family vibe here. Bobby is totally the long-suffering father figure, imperfect but genuinely caring for his people. And Buck definitely needs the care-taking, though he is a hero in his own right. And I adore the friendship between Buck and Eddie. I always enjoy a good Buck-in-peril story (as the show writers seem to as well!), though I'd also like tales of the aftermath of rescues or quieter descriptions of everyday life at the station. Gen, friendship fic preferred.

Buck is my favorite here. And let's face it, Buck is, at times, an idiot. But he's a lovable idiot. At heart he really just wants to connect with people, and when he truly does, he loves them fiercely. He doesn't really seem to know how to go about that sometimes, which I think might indicate a less than stellar childhood or a low value of self-worth (or both).

I love his relationship with Christopher, the boy really brings out the best in Buck. I really loved the scene at the end of the Tsunami arc, with Eddie telling him there was no one he'd trust more with his kid. I definitely view Eddie as the older brother in that relationship, the more responsible one.

That said, it might be fun to watch a role reversal here, with Buck taking care of or rescuing Eddie or Bobby.

*A note on the DNW's: with this fandom especially, even canon levels of gore are sometimes a bit much for me. That said, I know some amount can at times be necessary for a storyline. I'm not asking for a total avoidance of injury or blood, but I would appreciate not-too-detailed descriptions. :)

Thank you again for writing for me; I am looking forward to reading your story!
